The Little Mekong Cooperative

Building Community Wealth and Shared Prosperity

Our Formation & Purpose

The Little Mekong Cooperative was established with a bold vision: to secure the economic future of our vibrant cultural district and put ownership directly into the hands of the people who make it thrive.

Driven by the community and supported by AEDA, the Cooperative was formed to combat gentrification, prevent displacement, and empower local entrepreneurs. Our purpose is to create a resilient, community-owned ecosystem where small businesses can grow, stabilize, and build long-term, generational wealth together.

The Power of Cooperative Membership

We believe that we are stronger together. By transitioning from individual operators to cooperative owners, our members unlock powerful economic advantages designed to protect and elevate our district.

Membership in the Little Mekong Cooperative offers two primary pillars of benefit:

  • Financial Returns on Real Estate Investments: Gaining control of our physical space is vital to our survival. Through the cooperative model, members pool their resources to invest in local commercial real estate. This allows small businesses to secure affordable, stable storefronts while simultaneously earning financial returns and building equity on their cooperative real estate investments. Instead of paying rent to outside landlords, your investment works for you and the community.

  • Collective & Shared Benefits for Small Businesses: Beyond real estate, the Cooperative fosters a collaborative business environment. Members gain access to shared resources, collective purchasing power, joint marketing initiatives, and a dedicated support network. By sharing the load, businesses can significantly reduce their operational costs, increase their margins, and amplify their presence in the Little Mekong District.
